The draft of the journal Periphery is consolidating. As usual, in June launched a new number with four articles
and two reviews.
On this occasion, we have the cooperation of Bojan Žikić, which introduces us to review the changes of
Anthropology in a country affected by a major transition, Serbia. In this author's hand, we are entering a
reflection on our discipline that comes from the Balkans.
Addai Marrades also makes an interesting contribution to anthropology focusing on the so-called "War on Terror".
The author analyzes the linking of Anthropology with the military's twenty-first century since the U.S. military
agencies employ anthropologists and social scientists to learn more about the enemy as well
Changing the subject, Luciana Pontes addresses the issue of representation of women in Brazilian media
communication Portuguese. It does so via Visual Anthropology, although the characteristics of the population chosen
not forget the importance of gender and nationality in its analysis, as well as migration
Lastly, we have rescued an injection of Carballo and Maria Carmen Salcedo on the Theology of Liberation,
stressing the importance it has had in any social process in Latin America than any anthropologist / decides to
investigate and one didactic staff about methods from the Cognitive Anthropology done
by José Luis Molina and Júlia Vich Bertrán
In the section on reviews included two items. The first is Elizabeth Gentile on the book Anthropology. Theories
of Culture, Calvo Buezas and Barbolla Camarero. The second is from Alex Coello, who writes about his book En la
compañía de ángeles. Vida del extático y fervoroso padre Juan de Alloza, SJ (1597-1666).
Finally, we would like to remind retirement in this academic year by Dr. Verena Stolcke. This past May 20 was
held from the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the UAB a warm tribute to this outstanding
anthropologist. During five hours walked with his colleagues, friends and disciples as does the trajectories of
academic and intellectual Dr. Stolcke, recalling all / os together / as its important contributions to the
discipline. Of course, it proved impossible to ignore his more personal side, because as she always says
"throughout theory there is always some biography."
Congratulations to Verena that begins a new stage as academic as professor emeritus and retired.
Until the next issue!
